Harassment Prevention Training

USC’s Harassment Prevention Training is an important part of our university’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and safe environment for all. It’s also required in accordance with California state law for all faculty, staff, and student workers to take at the time of hire and every two years thereafter.

Please Read With Care

This page contains information about training requirements for the prevention of discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct. Given that this content may be difficult to process, USC has robust resources in place to support the Trojan community. If you believe you may have difficulty completing this course for any reason, please reach out to OCRC at ocrc@usc.edu or 213-740-5086 to discuss how to proceed.

About the Training

This training ties directly to our Unifying Values and further serves to provide USC faculty and staff with clear expectations that come with being a part of our Trojan community, including:

  • Knowing how to identify potential discrimination and harassment, including sexual and sex-based harassment and related retaliation (Prohibited Conduct), how to make a report, and where to go for help and support.
  • Understanding the university’s processes for responding to and resolving reports of Prohibited Conduct.
  • Learning how to be an upstander in situations where you feel comfortable doing so and ways you can contribute to a supportive university community.

As of November 2025, Harassment Prevention Training is made up of four versions of training, assigned based on hire date and whether an employee has direct reports.

For the 2025-2026 cycle launching on Nov. 10, 2025, continuing employees (hired on or before Dec. 31, 2024) receive the following and have until Feb. 1, 2026 to complete it:

  1. Harassment Prevention Refresher for Managers: Automatically assigned to those with designated leadership functions at the university, including staff with direct reports and all faculty.
  2. Harassment Prevention Refresher for Non-Managers: Automatically assigned to those in non-supervisory positions, including student employees.

New hires as of Nov. 10, 2025 (when the 2025-2026 cycle launches) receive the following and have 60 days from their assignment date to complete it:

  • Harassment Prevention for Managers: Automatically assigned to those with designated leadership functions at the university, including faculty and staff with direct reports.
  • Harassment Prevention for Non-Managers: Automatically assigned to those in non-supervisory positions, including student employees.

If you think you have been assigned the incorrect version of the course, please contact the HR Service Center for assistance.
